Skiing
Spruce Pine NC is close to the area's finest ski mountains. We provide the best lodging for your trip, and it allows for plenty of other things to do when you're not on the slopes. Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, Hawksnest, Appalachian Ski Mountain, and Wolf Ridge Ski Resort are close to Spruce Pine NC and offer the best skiing experience in the Southeast. Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain are located in Banner Elk and are excellent choices for the family. There are great beginner’s slopes and more challenging terrain for experienced skiers. They both offer private or group lessons and have all day ski schools for the kids. They also offer great group rates and are very accommodating to your needs.

Hawksnest, located in Seven Devils, is a local's favorite. They recently updated their park that has something for the intermediate to the advanced skiers and snowboarders. On the coldest days you can warm up by the fire in the upstairs lodge and watch the skiers coming down the slopes. For those that wish to do something a little less strenuous there are tubing runs perfect for all ages. Appalachian Ski Mountain, located between Boone and Blowing Rock, is also a local’s favorite. They have a terrain park that the more experienced boarders love to ride on. The park is sponsored by Boarder’s Paradise and offers the best jumps and rail slides. Don’t hesitate to check out Appalachian Ski Mountain; it is sure to push you to your limits and provide a fun filled day in the snow!

Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is located in Mars Hill, NC and is a family run mountain that provides something for the whole family. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort has been rated one of the best ski slopes in Western North Carolina and there in no wonder why! At Wolf Ridge they offer slopes and lessons for beginners to help teach the basic fundamentals of skiing and snowboarding. If you are more advanced you may choose to take a lesson to help fine tune your abilities. They offer an array of slopes at different levels of difficulty. All slopes offer impeccable views of the surrounding mountains. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort also offers tubing runs that are fun for the whole family. Be sure to stop by our lodge for a cup of hot cocoa to warm up. At Wolf Ridge Ski Resort in Mars Hill, NC there are also many events available in the summer months including live music and downhill bike races.

There is snow tubing in Jonas Ridge, NC that is fun for all ages. Snow tubing has been dubbed as sledding for the new millennium. You no longer have to walk to the top of the hill! Just hook your tube up to the lift and it will pull you safely to the top. Then you can slide down the hill for a little adrenaline rush. Don’t worry we have a safety team at the bottom of the hill to ensure your safety. They offer day and night tubing; bring out the whole family for some winter fun!
