Another way to appreciate the beautiful foliage of the Blue Ridge Mountains is to venture on horseback through the local riding trails. Horse back riding is popular among the Appalachian Range. There are several horseback riding tails in the area, and also a few local stables that will provide all the equestrian essentials you will need. In Spruce Pine, Springmaid Mountain off the North Toe River offers guided trips through the mountains that are sure to be fun for the entire family.  Enjoy Horseback Riding in NC while staying with us on your vacation.  Check out our NC Log Cabin Rental in Spruce Pine and book your trip today!

Visitors to the Pisgah National Forest can enjoy designated riding trails in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, including the 12-mile South Mills River Trail and the 18-mile Buncombe Horse Range Trail. Leatherwood Mountains has something to offer all types of riders. Leatherwood’s state of the art equine facility will offer you a pleasant ride among the Blue Ridge Mountains. Horses and riders travel from all over to ride on their amazing North Carolina horseback riding trail system neatly trimmed to the rugged mountain paths.

Located nearby in Linville North Carolina is Grandfather Mountain, which is a great getaway for riders as there are many trails to explore in the Grandfather Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest. Grandfather Ranger District has two new wilderness areas for hikers and horse back riders, as some of the trails are too steep for even the accomplished hiker. Horseback riding is a great way to enjoy the scenery the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer.

Watauga County also has some hidden mountain trails to share with visitors to the Western North Carolina High Country. Not far from Spruce Pine, about 30 minutes, in Blowing Rock you will find Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve where horseback riding trips are available. While in Blowing Rock, you might skip over to the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit Moses Cone Estate where there are many scenic trails to ride as you enjoy the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. There are many other stables and saddle clubs in and around the High Country and near Spruce Pine. Each offers visitors a fantastic ride through the mountains where you're sure to have a great time, regardless of your experience level.  Give any of them a call for more information and to set up a time to take a ride!
